A Black Columnist on Obama

Ken Blackwell - Columnist for the New York Sun

> It's an amazing time to be alive in America . We're in a year of
> firsts in this presidential election: the first viable woman
> candidate; the first viable African-American candidate; and, a
> candidate who is the first front-running freedom fighter over 70. The
> next president of America will be a first.
>
>
> We won't truly be in an election of firsts, however, until we judge
> every candidate by where they stand. We won't arrive where we should
> be until we no longer talk about skin color or gender. Now that Barack
> Obama steps to the front of the Democratic field, we need to stop
> talking about his race, and start talking about his policies and his
> politics.
>
>
> The reality is this: Though the Democrats will not have a nominee
> until August, unless Hillary Clinton drops out, Mr. Obama is now the
> frontrunner, and its time America takes a closer and deeper look at
> him. Some pundits are calling him the next John F. Kennedy. He's not.
> He's the next George McGovern. And it's time people learned the facts.
>
>
> Because the truth is that Mr. Obama is the single most liberal senator
> in the entire U.S. Senate. He is more liberal than Ted Kennedy, Bernie
> Sanders, or Mrs. Clinton. Never in my life have I seen a presidential
> frontrunner whose rhetoric is so far removed from his record. Walter
> Mondale promised to raise our taxes, and he lost. George McGovern
> promised military weakness, and he lost. Michael Dukakis promised a
> liberal domestic agenda, and he lost. Yet Mr. Obama is promising all
> those things, and he's not behind in the polls. Why? Because the press
> has dealt with him as if he were in a beauty pageant.. Mr. Obama
> talks about getting past party, getting past red and blue, to lead the
> United States of America . But let's look at the more defined strokes
> of who he is underneath this superficial "beauty."
>
>
> Start with national security, since the president's most important
> duties are as commander-in-chief. Over the summer, Mr. Obama talked
> about invading Pakistan, a nation armed with nuclear weapons; meeting
> without preconditions with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who vows to destroy
> Israel and create another Holocaust; and Kim Jong II, who is murdering
> and starving his people, but emphasized that the nuclear option was
> off the table against terrorists - something no president has ever
> taken off the table since we created nuclear weapons in the 1940s.
> Even Democrats who have worked in national security condemned all of
> those remarks. Mr. Obama is a foreign-policy novice who would put our
> national security at risk.
>
>
> Next, consider economic policy. For all its faults, our health care
> system is the strongest in the world. And free trade agreements,
> created by Bill Clinton as well as President Bush, have made more
> goods more affordable so that even people of modest means can live a
> life that no one imagined a generation ago. Yet Mr. Obama promises to
> raise taxes on "the rich." How to fix Social Security? Raise taxes.
> How to fix Medicare? Raise taxes. Prescription drugs? Raise taxes.
> Free college? Raise taxes. Socialize medicine? Raise taxes. His
> solution to everything is to have government take it over. Big Brother
> on steroids, funded by your paycheck..
>
>
> Finally, look at the social issues. Mr. Obama had the audacity to open
> a stadium rally by saying, "All praise and glory to God!" but says
> that Christian leaders speaking for life and marriage have "hijacked"
> - hijacked - Christianity. He is pro-partial birth abortion, and
> promises to appoint Supreme Court justices who will rule any
> restriction on it unconstitutional. He espouses the abortion views of
> Margaret Sanger, one of the early advocates of racial cleansing. His
> spiritual leaders endorse homosexual marriage, and he is moving in
> that direction. In Illinois , he refused to vote against a statewide
> ban - ban - on all handguns in the state. These are radical left,
> Hollywood , and San Francis co values, not Middle America values.
>
>
> The real Mr. Obama is an easy target for the general election. Mrs.
> Clinton is a far tougher opponent. But Mr. Obama could win if people
> don't start looking behind his veneer and flowery speeches. His vision
> of "bringing America together" means saying that those who disagree
> with his agenda for America are hijackers or warmongers. Uniting the
> country means adopting his liberal agenda and abandoning any conflicting
> beliefs.
>
>
> But right now everyone is talking about how eloquent of a speaker he
> is and - yes - they're talking about his race. Those should never be
> the factors on which we base our choice for president. Mr. Obama's
> radical agenda sets him far outside the American mainstream, to the
> left of Mrs. Clinton.
>
>
> It's time to talk about the real Barack Obama. In an election of
> firsts, let's first make sure we elect the person who is qualified to
> be our president in a nuclear age during a global civilizational war.
>
> Subject: Kind of scary, wouldn't you think Remember--"God is good, and

Ok... First of all let me make it known I am avid Barack Obama Supporter, first because he is black, second, because he has invigorated my people to believe and hope that they can accomplish the highest held office there is. What African American wouldn't want to support Him? I work in corporate America and I experience all types of rhetoric to make me feel good. So, do I think Obama is telling us what he thinks we wants to hear????YES!!!! Obama is a Politician... just like The Clinton's, The Bush's, and The Kennedy's. They all lie!!! However, I feel that Obama has a great heart and really wants to do what is best for this country. He has over and over again said that he wants to stop the war and he wants Universal health care for all Americans. He has also admitted that it will not be easy and Washington will not want to go along with it!!! But, he is willing to fight and try!!! And that is all we can ask for!!!

Bush and McCain have both openly admitted that they were wrong about Katrina, and did nothing to help!!! America is ranked as the most divided nation. We have had 43 presidents that are the same!! I think we should give Obama the opportunity to make a difference. I can't believe that a black columnist would say that "the press has dealt with him as if he were in a beauty pageant" URG!!!!! I don't know where this man has been... Maybe somewhere under a rock. The media has depicted Obama (excuse my language), but, as an uppity, unpatriotic, inexperienced, Muslim, nigga with a too black wife!!!! How many emails have you read that said that Obama was a Muslim, he swore in on the Koran, he doesn't say the pledge, he doesn't wear the American flag on the lapel, Michelle is his “baby's Mama”, that a pound is a terrorist signal!!!! This sounds nothing like a beauty Pageant to me, and I have won several!!!!!! Why hasn't anyone talked about Cindy McCain’s drug problem or McCain voting against affirmative action, or even why is a 72 year old man running for president???? Come on now!!!!

1. Yes Barack Obama is very liberal, and so is John McCain for that matter. What does that really mean???

Foreign policy. Obama has said on numerous occasions that he is against the war in Iraq and voted against it. Both Clinton as well as McCain voted for it. He has also said that he would sit down with our enemies because he is not afraid to negotiate with anyone. He quotes Kennedy, "We should never negotiate out of fear, but we should never fear to negotiate.” This is so true. There is nothing wrong with talking to our enemies!!! We need and must let them know where we stand in order to know where they stand!!!! The columnist called Obama a novice. Yet, what is Bush and Clinton for that matter? Bush invaded Iraq with the approval of McCain and Clinton... telling the American people that there were weapons of mass destruction. LIE,LIE,LIE!!!!!! At least this "Novice" knew enough to know that this war would do nothing, but raise taxes and cause American lives to be lost!!! And don’t forget… the Clinton administration knew all about 9-11 and did nothing to prevent it!!!!

2. Economy: Universal health care means health care for all Americans!!!! Obama says if you can't afford health care, it will be provided. I have a first hand experience with this. I work for a company that completely revamped its health insurance this year because “major corporations are putting out too much money to insure their employees.” I have an $1100.00 deductible to meet. This means if I get sick I have to pay up to $1100.00 before my insurance pays. I had to get a prescription filled last week that cost me $187.00, which last year only cost me $7.00. Universal health care means that I will receive the same type of insurances that Bill Gates and President Bush has!!! I think that is only fair!!! Barack Obama doesn't want to raise taxes. He wants to lower taxes for the working class!!! The problem is: wages are stagnant and prices are rising. While wages remain flat, the costs of basic necessities are increasing. The cost of in-state college tuition has grown 35 percent over the past five years. Health care costs have risen four times faster than wages over the past six years. And the personal savings rate is now the lowest it's been since the Great Depression. I know we all a can attest to this. Gas is $4 a gallon and will reach $5 before November. Obama’s tax proposal will lower taxes for Americans that make less that $75,000 annually and raise the capital gains tax for people make more than $250,000 annually. This is only fair. Right now secretaries are paying more taxes than CEO's!!

3. We live in a very judgmental society yet the Bible tells us that anyone without sin should cast the first stone. We are all a bit prejudice if we are honest. So, to say that he is the antichrist is crazy...for that matter the columist could be the anticrist!! We should keep Barack and Michelle in our prayers because they have to endure this egregious scrutiny. I know I get offended when I hear the lies. However, I am not Barack or Michelle. I am sure they are more hurt than offended!!! Just my thoughts…

Peace and blessings!!!
