Today is June 30, 2009, My last day being 27. As I reflect over my life I realize how blessed I truly am, God has been gracious to me over and over! I am so not deserving of all of my blessings! I have spent so much of my life trying to please others wanting people to judge me on my on merit instead of where I come from and my parents!
But I realize that I can no longer be ashamed of who I am or where I come from, because those things are the things that make me who I am. I know that my God’s grace is sufficient for me, for his power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.
I have grown so much over the years. I have had some good times and some bad times! I have had my heart broken and I have done my fair share of heart breaking. I was talking to my BFF (Constance) this morning about her sister’s wedding and if you know me, you know that I am a hopeless romantic. I was all excited as if it was my wedding and she could sense it in my voice. She said, “Chasiti, you still believe in love and you are still hopeful.” I replied “Yes”, and we continued to talk like normal.
That conversation has had me going since 7 this morning. I am not bitter anymore. I am ready for love; but not at the cost of whom I am. See, I have dated my fair share of guys and tried to change who I was to fit them. If he wanted someone domesticated, I learned to cook; if he was into partying, I became a party animal, all for My man! But in trying to be what my man wanted I forgot about the things that were important to me. I did things that just weren’t Chasiti. Not saying that the things I did were bad, but they were not done because of my own conviction, they were done to please someone else! I have learned that you can’t make anyone want you and I will not try any longer! You see, I am perfectly made in the likeness of Jesus! I am going to live my life that way. I know there is always room for improvement and trust that I am working on me daily. But, I dare my self esteem issues to subject me to settle for anything less than I deserve. The bible says that a man should love is wife like Christ loves the church; not when he feels like or when its convenient or when no one else is looking! I am a Jewel with a lot to offer!
And yes, I have kissed a few frogs, but I know the next man I Kiss will be my prince!!!
I am single with no plus one and I cool with it!!!!
Life has taught me to be content in all things! "I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength". A Soulful Relationship
An African proverb states, "Before you get married, keep both eyes open,and after you marry, close one eye. "Before you get involved and make a commitment to someone, don’t let lust, desperation, immaturity, ignorance, pressure from others or a low self-esteem make you blind to warning signs. Keep your eyes open, and don’t fool yourself that you can change someone or that what you see as faults aren’t really important.
Once you decide to commit to someone, over time their Flaws,
vulnerabilities, pet peeves, and differences will become more obvious.
If you love your mate and want the relationship to grow and evolve, you’ve got to learn to close one eye and not let every little thing bother you. You and your mate have many different expectations, emotional needs, values, dreams, weaknesses, and strengths. You are two unique individuals who have decided to share a life together.

Obama!!!!
Barack Obama!!!!
I am ecstatic to see Barack Obama secure the democratic nomination; I am overjoyed to witness such a historic event!!! However, I can’t handle the fact that when I went to CNN this morning The Top story was Hillary is lobbying for VP… There is something seriously wrong with this woman!!! How could she impede on history like this!!!! This is a very unpatriotic act. Barack Obama is making history and she is having a fit!!! There is a famous quote that says through adversity you find a person’s true character, and she has shown hers. Now I will be fair, I have never been a fan of Hillary’s, but I did admire her fight and tenacity. But, this whining mess is too much. Why is everyone saying that she is a better candidate??? She lost. how is she a better candidate???? Why will she not quiet??? Is she too prideful to concede!!!!Why is she saying that she wants to unite the party and is doing to completely opposite? WHY???
Barack has truly made me proud. If we ask our parents if they would have thought this would have happened in there life time they all would say NO!! But, that shows how amazing our God is!!! Barack Obama is now a household name and just 14 months ago, I had no clue who this man was. And now he is the Democratic Nominee. I just want to challenge all of my friends to take a deep look at Obama and challenge yourself to reach for the sky, because he is living proof that we can accomplish anything that we aspire to do no matter what color we are, who are parents are, or what your name is. In the words of Michelle Obama today “for the first time in my life I am truly proud to be an American”!!!!!

Untimely/Premature Death????
Every Mother’s Day my family and I go the cemetery to visit my Grandmother. She passed when I was 14 yrs old. This is something that my mother likes to do with my little brother and me and her sister every year. It gives her a since of peace to have all of us together. This Sunday I found myself wondering through the cemetery looking at headstones and I ran across Master Justin Antinio Miller Birth September 28, 1988 Died September 30, 1988 and then DeCresha NeSha Robinson Born December 8, 1980 Died October 8,1989. This triggered a question that I have been battling since My friend Keith passed in 2006.
I truly had a very hard time dealing with Keith’s death and while talking to different spiritual leaders I became more confused. I was told, “God promised us 70 to 120 years” and they used Psalms 90:10 and Genesis 6 to back it up. Then I asked, “So, are you tell me that Keith’s death was premature?”. Then they started to question his life style and his commitment to Christ and so forth. I never was given a straight answer.
I have had this conversation with several people and I have gotten several different answers. Yesterday while talking to good friend of mine he told me a story about an eight year old boy playing in the street who was hit by a stray bullet. The shooting was gang related and as result of the boy being shot the gang members turned there lives over to Christ. When I told this story to the spiritual leader he said that satan stole this boys life away and he used John 10:10 to back it up. “The thief does not come except to steal and to kill and destroy”. Even though the child saved all of the lives of the Gang members he feels that the child’s life was stolen. I have a problem with this!!!!
We all were put on this earth for a purpose and that is to lead others to Christ. It is obvious that this child’s life was taken so that he can fulfill his purpose. So to say that his death was untimely is just absurd. God doesn’t make any mistakes. When you look Job, Satan had to ask God’s permission to do anything to Job and that is the same with us.
I just can’t believe that there is any such thing as a premature or untimely death. Let me know your thoughts?????

Guard Your Heart!!!
Proverbs 4:23 Tell us to “Above all else, Guard your Heart, for it is your wellspring of life”. In reading this I thought, “This is so true.” If I never experienced bad relationships I wouldn’t be so bitter. Lol JK. Hey… if you can’t poke fun at yourself, you are a sad person. But seriously, think about it, how many of you are harboring insecurities from previous relationships??? Maybe your mom told you that you weren’t smart enough to be a doctor so you decided against going to medical school or maybe an ex lover told you that you were fat so you don’t wear certain clothes. It is amazing to me what people can say to make us change our self images. I know a lot of you are saying sounds like someone has low self esteem, but low self esteem starts somewhere. People just aren’t born with low self esteem; it is developed over one’s life. Me, personally, I was in relationship with a man that mentally abused me. I knew that I deserved better, I was just so detached from God that I didn’t have the strength to leave. I really felt like I needed him. I did everything I could to make him want me!!! I mean everything, I completely devalued myself…So sad, but true!!!!
Why didn’t I guard my Heart?? Why didn’t I take God at is word and realize that I was perfectly made in the likeness of him???? The same reason that you don’t…I didn’t want to be alone. I wanted to be loved, and I had too much pride to let it go!!! However, not wanting to be alone and wanting to be loved made me compromise myself and left my heart unprotected. When your heart isn’t guarded you subject yourself to all types of heartache!!! Jesus died so that we can have life more abundantly. This means that He died so that we can be happy!!! I had to realize that being happy was my choice!!! I had to guard my heart; but, most of all trust and believe God that there is a perfect man out there for me!!! So, I left. Now don’t get me wrong since then life hasn’t been all roses. But it s has been so much easier because I know that I have a man that loves me no matter what!!!!
P.S. This relationship strengthened my relationship with God and truly made me a better person!!! So I thank my ex for what he took me through because without him I wouldn't be the Jewel that I am today!!!!
